i will link up some pictures soon. we had a good day of fishing around the Salmon. My cousin and I were picking lunkers of of the banks with green soft plastics. Another friend of ours was tossing a Kastmaster and caught some fat channel cats, the larger of which was at least 15 lbs and eventually wrapped itself around a tree. we were able to get the lure and line off of the tree the cat had broken the hook off of it! lol the bass were nice 2-4 lbs? many of which were mating? up so close to shore their dorsal and tails were sticking out of the water. the pike were, well, pike. tide didn't seem to matter much the fish were very aggressive. we went out to target bowfin with night crawlers but the rest of the fauna kept us very busy. lots of woohoo's and high fives. |

Was this at Salmon River State Park? I want to go there soon. I hear nothing but great things about it! Congrats on all the fish! _________________ Going for that trophy fish! |

no this was north and south of the mouth of the Salmon river in backwaters of the CT river. went back down there today and with the new Sylvan 16 (sigh) but was fighting the wind. Big pain in the ass. no hits no follow ups. one big perch out of Chapman. no one i have talked to (shore guys) have seen any striper in the general area in a while. lots of white catfish, white perch. there are what look to be shad sloshing around by the banks lots of them. the shore guys have been targeting shad with no luck in that area. keepers are coming in out of the ocean in all of the usual haunts going to try and make a trip out to the "race" or RI sunday or monday... and still fish for some scup on the way in. |
