I fished the Connecticut River out of Haddam Meadows with Tmac (aka Tim), today:

Yes, we got rained on! Laughing We took Tim's bass boat for a shake down run and, well, there were a few things to shake down. Wink When Tim put some air in his trailer tires last night, the valve stem on one of them broke. Pssss! Confused So we ended up getting a late start. When we got on the water at 10:00 am, ours were the only cars in the in the parking lot near the ramp. The sky was totally overcast, but the air temperature was about 60 degrees and there was only a light south wind. Immediately after we launched, Tim discovered an electrical issue with his outboard. It wouldn't turn over and he was barely able to raise it back out of the water. Confused We decided to fish the west bank of the river with just the trolling motor, which appeared to be working fine. The water was surprisingly clear. Well, not exactly clear, but it was much better than the cafe latte that it's been, lately. Rolling Eyes We targeted stripers as we drifted downriver. We didn't travel far, perhaps a mile. Tim threw a White Lady 7-1/2 inch Sebile Magic Swimmer and I threw a six inch Silver/Redhead Bomber Wind-Cheater. About 45 minutes after we launched, I saw a fish flash underneath my Bomber. When I paused my retrieve, a small northern pike hit it:

Tim netted the northern pike for me and got it onto the back deck of his boat. While I was trying to remove the big treble hook from its mouth, it thrashed around and buried two of the hooks on the lure's second treble hook into the back of Tim's seat. Embarassed Tim was really gracious about it, but I owe him a new seat cover, anyway. Wink Yes, Tim, I really do. Very Happy Over the next 1-1/2 hours, we didn't get any hits or see any fish. We each tried a few different lures. Finally, a six inch Silver/Black Bomber Wind-Cheater got me another small northern pike:

It started to rain and the wind rose out of the south as we began heading back upriver toward the ramp. When Tim tried to adjust the trolling motor, the pull cord separated from it. Shocked Then the rain began to pour. Thank goodness for rain suits Wink We got off of the water at 1:30 pm. We had a short day on the river with only a couple of small northern pike to show for it, but Tim's boat is definitely well shaken down. Very Happy

Hey nice pike Phil, nothing worse than being out with boat problems. As long as you don't go too far, it's not so nerve racking.

I'm not on that section of the river often enough to know what the normal water level looks like, Bob. There was plenty of water to launch and recover the boat, though. Haddam Meadows has a really nice boat launch ramp. It's free and there are floating docks on either side of it. Plus, there's plenty of parking.

Nice Pike!

I searched for Lloyd's Lures and seems his FB page isnt up. And he dosent have a website. I see that he is on CTFT though, anyone know how I can get my hands on one of these magic swimmers? The striper bite isnt so hot right now, for me anyways, so Im hoping to find something that they want to take! I went out last night and threw a few Sebiles, and some top water plugs with no luck..

Thanks for the info! I've been wanting to get down there anyways, so now I definetly have a reason!

As for the stripers, just talked to the owner @ Yankee Bait & Tackle in Enfield and the day beofre yesterday he weighed in 2 NICE bass, a 32 and a 35. Said they're catching around the mouth of the Westfield where it dumps into the CT, I need to get my outboard running!!
