I fished my most favoritest pond ever from 2:30 a.m. to 8:30 am. The fishing sucked (as is often the case at Batterson) but it was a beautiful night to be on the water. No wind vortex, rain held off, air temp was a comfortable 61 degrees, police patrolled the lot. Caught one mediocre largemouth, a 17" walleye, and a ROCK BASS. I spent about 75% of my time throwing west coast topwaters (wishful thinking) but I caught all 3 with the black/silver spinnerbait.

I got there at ten of 9, must have just missed you. Threw everything but the kitchen sink until 130pm with a rock bass to show for it. Couldn't seem to locate any fish. Mostly targeting bass but they haven't seemed to move into shallow water yet. |

Yeah, I fish alone at night frequently. I'm extremely comfortable with being on/around water & (most) boat launches in the dark. It's my favorite time to fish.
John - I saw a few 3lbers cruising the west shoreline after the sun came up. Still very few beds. _________________ Kira

With the air temps rising along with water temps the spawn will be on in the coming days.
I expect the fishing to pick up just before that and it will be insane for a few days. I have seen large beds empty in a few lakes. Don't forget the Big Girls spawn first water temps approaching 55+ will get them going and spawning. Then it's post spawn bass _________________ Just Fish |
