Are you talking boat or shore? I know plenty of people catch the sand sharks off of Gulf beach in Milford.

in the late summer we lose rigs to sharks off the beach in waterford. big enough to bite through wire leaders that bluefish can't bite through. guessing they are brown sandies but they could be other species as well. blues makos bulls whites.

I used to catch decent sized sand sharks randomly off the piers in west haven when fishing for blues.

"brown sharks" and "sand sharks" are generalized terms for a variety of species of sharks. i am not sure which sharks either of you are referring to.
