Anyone fished from shore there? Good, bad or should I leave the gear at home? |

Last time I checked, you increase your odds greatly if you have a line in the water!

Yes it is true that fishing gear needs to be out and wet to catch a fish, however I wasn't sure if someone has been there and actually fished. I can see that you guys have been there and caught clown fish (yuck yuck). |

There are definitely fish in that area,..I know that from shore, the bait guys catch some at least! If you are strictly artificials,..you will increase your odds about a hundred times over, if you can be there around sunrise or sunset (or night...) combined with high tide! Also, I'd try a wooden plug that will cast out a lot further than your slugos _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Thanks for the advice, I have come to the conclusion that it's definitely me and not the slug-go. I am going to try my next trip either to the CT river or shoreline at night or before dawn. When I was there at Harkness the tide was starting to come in but my wife and daughter were getting hungry so we left. What type of wooden lure would you recommend? |

One of these in at least 1.5 ounce or 2 ounce,....

They have them in most places around here that carry salt water gear,...they are very standard for striper surface fishing. If you want something that dives down a little try Danny's or rapala x-raps with a jerk-pause-jerk.jerk-pause retrieve.

(if you just get one,..make it white!!) _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Cool thanks for the advice, I'm looking to try and get out this week. Anytime I can add something to the tackle box is a good time! |
