Holee crappie!
You made me look up the State Record. As big as your crappie is, it's nowhere near the four pound State Record. I had no idea that crappie could get that big. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Awesome slab crappie!
Last year when the state did a fish shock at Slatonstall, one of the fish they shocked was a new state record crappie.
I saw a popular regional bass fisherman bring in a stringer full of 2+ pound crappie one day! |

Saltonstall has been producing really nice fish this spring, even off the dock. Thats a fine job, and a beauty of a crappie. Ive had a permit for years, but always forget about that lake. I dont remember....do you have to use their boat, or can you put in a canoe? I know you cant use your own motor due to weed transfer from other waters. _________________ Dave..... Ive seen some giant crappie pulled out of keeney cove right under the bridge to the left or right. Hub cappers. This lady always used to catch em and bring them home. |

Good luck there....it takes a lot of patience and trial and error. People get skunked there all the time. _________________ You know it was a good day when your thumb is all scratched up. |

Thats exactly what it took that day to get on fish. The first two hours barely produced fish. Once it was evident bass weren't really gonna chase a spinnerbait or a swimbait. It was time to slow things down. So we started crawling a worm and our luck changed dramatically. I was gonna string that calico up and eat it. But it was the first fish caught and I am not sure I wanted a fish hanging off the side of the boat giving off stress signal. We should have weighed it. I am gonna try to attach a pic of the best lmb of the day. I cant get a pic on here to save my life. Its in my gallery here, under mikejiggen. Its the one labeled Lake Saltonstall 5-6-2012. If anyone would care to tell me how to put a pic on a post i would appreciate it. _________________ Glory is in the big ones, not the numbers. |

You have to host it on a sight like imgur.com and then put it in with [img*] [/img*] tags (no stars).
Awesome fish though. The one time i went there as a kid we brought home a skunk. |

O_o dafuq, I am no fish biologist, but I am pretty certain fish don't give off stress signals |
