Striped Bass: The spring run in the Connecticut River is under way. There are schoolies and some bass over 30″, but they’re scattered. The best advice is to keep moving until you locate a school. While you’re looking for schools of smaller bass you’ll probably run into a couple of larger ones. The anglers fishing bait from shore are scoring with more consistency from Saybrook Point to Middletown. We got the first reports of bass in Plum Gut yesterday, this is generally the forerunner of bass on the reefs in a few days.
