After not getting a single trout at Ball Pond, my buddy and I hit the Pootatuck River up by Sandy Hook.
My buddy stuck with pink Power Bait and nightcrawlers on the bottom but never got into any fish. I caught an 11" brookie on a 6cm glass minnow Husky Jerk.
Later we headed down to the Norwalk River in Wilton. I had 2 hits there before my buddy caught a dinky brown no bigger than 9". He also got a white sucker there.
Last stop was the Mill River in Fairfield. The one area we stayed with was low compared to the level we'd usually see the water. A deeper stretch with a flow that I usually have luck at was low and even picking up weeds with an Original Floater. At a popular pool along the stretch, my buddy lost a trout with a nightcrawler on the bottom and had plenty of redbreasts robbing him. I caught 5 redbreasts no bigger than 4", 3 1/2" grass pickerel, and 4" rock bass all by doing the same thing that I was hitting the bass with at Ball.
Hit the road around 6:30pm |

Went to the Naugy and only got 5 very small small mouths. Later after smoking some ribs my daughter decided she wanted to do some fishing, shocked me to death! I took her to a pretty local pond and we both caught 2 nice trout and she caught a 18" pickerel which I never even knew existed in there! Bad day turned out ok. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....
