Headed out around 5am to fish the incoming tide. Air temperature was 55 degrees and there was heavy fog and light drizzle.

Started fishing the mouth of the river at slack tide with bunker and kept at it for an hour or two with no luck so we headed north and ended up picking up a few schoolies, all by trolling tubes in the up-river direction.

One of them was caught right under the 95 highway bridge on a red/black tube. That fish had a Hudson River Foundation tag on it that I'll be sending back to them. They say they will send information on when and where the fish was tagged so it will be interesting to see when it was tagged in the Hudson.

It is the first tagged fish I've ever caught so it is exciting, and the information will be great to know.

I'm going to mail it in Monday and it may take some time to get a response from the HRF, but when I do I will certainly post a response with what I learn.

I caught a tagged cod a few years back. Unfortunately I didn't get to pull the tag before the first mate filleted the fish and threw the tag overboard Mad I was bummed about that one.

I almost missed seeing the tag. It has collected a little plant material on it and since the fish was not a keeper I was going to put it back without cleaning it off. The first thing I saw was a little spot of bright yellow with the words "cut here" on it.

Thanks Phil. I hope they include a waterbody in central CT other than the river this year.

Actually I was wrong...It was a haddock that I caught with a tag in it...you can see the 2 green tags just beside the dorsal fin.
