I went to west lake around 1pm, fished the same area we always fish.
The sun was out, the wind was blowing (not as bad as of late,) and the water was some what clear.
Most of the fish seemed to come from close to the bottom up to attack my lures.
After watching bass pro, I figured I would take Vandams advice and work my spinner near the top of the water about a foot from the surface.
WELL that didnt work for the spinnerbait I was using. It could have been the color or side I had on though.
This did work however for the daredevil I had on and the swimbait =)
I caught a lot of 1 - 2 pound lmb, mainly 2lbs on
Daredevil
Spro shad swimbait 4in
Black/red senko 5in
I had some fun for the 2½ hours I was there
Oh and I also caught these using the daredevil
While I was fishing a baby turtle came to the surface and attempted to climb the rock I was on. The turtle was about the size of a half dollar coin!
The clouds came in and it started to rain for a bit.
The fish slowed down a lot and since I didnt feel like tryign any where else there I packed up and left.

That looks like a baby snapping turtle. I found two of them in my garage a couple of years ago, after they apparently hitched a ride in the undercarriage of my car.
And Soto, you know that Ball Pond is closed to fishing at the moment, right? The locals are very (i.e., rabidly) protective of the pond. You're lucky they didn't call the DEEP and the cops on you. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

What I would have done with that goldy was rigged it with a minnow hook and wait for a lmb or cp to grab it |

Yeah Mike I should have but, i was too busy having fun catching them with what I had on. I also wasnt going to stay much longer.

I have a box for ice fishing, that I figured I could use for trout and panfish
So I bring it with me just incase.
I was catching lmb on a pheobe MONTHS back and figured why not try the daredevil!
Besides the pickerel most of the bigger fish came from the swimbait and senko _________________

Hi Phil,
Nope! Baby painted turtle (cute) -> See in the 2nd picture the white spots along the edge of the shell + the whitw cheek spot!
Yes! Ball Pond is closed till "Opening Day"!

No, those aren't spots, Stephen. That's the glare of the sunlight off of the serrations on the edge of the shell. The first photo clearly shows the ridge running down the center of the back of the shell. They're cute little buggers. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
