I went to west lake around 2/2:30pm and fished until 4:18
I fished the usual spot
Today the wind was blowing hard! It actually hurt my ears for a short time!
Come to think of it I have not gone there once this year when the wind wasnt blowing my face off!
I have 3 rods set up
1: red/black senko 5in
2: brown/green 3/16oz spinner bait with trailer hook and green grub
3: cotton cordell lipless crank bait
I start off with the senko, only a few casts with no success
I pull out the spinner bait, cast into the wind about half way in, I feel a hard bump and see a pale brown FISH (bass maybe) disappear. Let me remind you this is the same spot that all of the bass have been coming from.. As soon as the fish missed it I was thinking GAME ON BABY.
I recast in the same direction again BAM! a big hit
After I let the fish go which stole my trailer hook, I remember I had my ruler in the book bag!!! =O
One of the biggest I have ever caught and 1st out of this place.
After fishing this area trying different things out I didnt catch any thing else for a while.
I moved up about 10-20 yards,
Cast the spinner baits (white and brown), rattle trap, crank bait, nothing!
In between trying those actually right after the rattle trap, I cast my senko across the inlet and slowly twitch it in.
There are short stalks of weeds, any thing I cast would drag across or grab /break free from these weeds.
As I am twitching I pull through some weeds and I feel a light pull (felt liek more weeds) I set the hook and feel some head shakes!!!
I should have got closer when I took this pic besides having the ruler in the pic wo some what help, the fish looks like a dink lol
After I landed this fish I had to run back fish in hand to my phone.
Which is where I caught the pickerel which is the same spot that in past posts all the other bass came from.
So the 1st picture close to the damn isnt exactly where it was caught.
I caught two more small lmb in the 1st spot one on the brown spinner one on the black.red senko _________________

Awesome pickerel!! I've never seen a "humpback" pickerel!
Nice bass too! That one looks in the 3 pound range by also looking at the measurements. |

Yeap, that largemouth bass is definitely longer and fatter than the one I caught, today. I'd guesstimate that it weighed about 3-1/2 pounds. Nice one! I haven't caught any fish with a wacky rigged Senko, yet, this year. Weird, huh? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Chud there is plenty of water in the area so if you luck out there, you can go to one of the others in the area.
Most of the bodies of water in this town are reservoirs, and you may need a local permit which I am unsure out of towners can get. _________________
