Hi,
Had to go to NYC today on a maritime consulting job..
Came back via Rt. 87 to Rt. 44
Got to Woodcreek, Norfolk, Ct. at 4:15 PM
Threw a small silver spinner and hooked my 1st spawning Crappie in the shallows -> squirted some eggs in my hand as I released it.
Was only that one, but it's a start !

| This is good to hear, I haven't been out to specifically target crappies in quite a few years and dug out all my panfishing gear today and really have some spots I want to check out this year. I am craving some crappie fillets! |

Hi,
Some time just after "Opening Day" I want to get up to the north end of Stillwater Pond, Torrington.
That's where a lot of crappies of good size go to spawn.

Whats the average of size ofcrappie, I caught a pretty big one which had to be almost 2 lbs. About the length of a baseball glove. This was like 4 yrs ago in Ct river

3 places to put a kayak in hold good crappie.
A buddy and I hit Lake Kenosia last month and were into topwater crappie. Every May we like to hit Great Hollow Lake with his canoe and hit the same spots that produce crappie. Every June we take his canoe to Lake Mamanasco and hit the crappie evening bite after catching afternoon bass.
I have productive spots from shore at Bunnells Pond and Twin Brooks Park too. |

I just read an article that said black crappies tend to spawn in the same place each year. That's specific crappies, not crappies in general. In other words, Cove A crappies usually spawn in Cove A, while Cove B crappies usuallly spawn in Cove B. If you find a good spot, it should produce every year.

I have what I call my "Crappie Spot" at Bunnells Pond in Bridgeport. Same spot produces every spring! |

I would say the average size is 10 inches long between 1/2 and 1 pound. |

| Michael has Great Hollow been a productive crappie pond for you? I've been fishing there for years and have never seen any crappie and have never seen anyone catch one there. |

Yes it has Ed. Certain areas produce every May during the peak season when they're in the shallows.
You're limited with spots along the shore but get better access with a canoe or kayak. |
