This will be my first report here on CT Fishtalk.

Its been a few weeks of non stop hurricane like wind in CT, but early in the am you can beat the gusts for a few bites. Wind has cancelled all of my early season blackfish plans, and even a desparation trip to the Farmington in riverton yeilded only a handful of small trout... yikes!

I managed a few hours early LAST week, but havent been out since. Still, there were some decent fish in the mix at a dark bottomed northwest ct lake (a key feature this time of year for early season largemouths). I landed 12 keepers, from 1.75 pounds up to this 4.65 pound largemouth, every one on a rapala xr10 series suspending jerkbait, fished on a 4-5 second pause. i targeted areas with 4-6 feet of water, but found my fish mostly on points or small sub points created by hourses and land development.

if it ever dies out there i'm good for 2-4 reports per week, as i fish often with a second/3rd shift work schedule. hope some of my findings for the week will help you plan your weekends accordingly.

Nice looking LMB you caught. I was planning on heading out Friday or Saturday but the wind kept the boat in the garage. Glad to see someone was catching them!

Awesome catch! All my decent fish have been coming on secondary points and spawning flats with isolated cover, mostly stumps, on jerkbaits

Nice bass. Way to get out there and beat the wind.

Nice job Mike!

The wind has been brutal. I visited my parents on Cape Cod for Easter and fished a lake up there where the wind is usually honking, but It was actually tame compared to what it's been like here.

I look forward to your future reports,

Steve

the wind has been like victory at sea in a small boat! I wish we would get a couple of overcast days with some drizzle that is what spring fishing is about! my son and i were going to go to NY to the res for Easter for a while (LOL) couldn't do it "I WOULD HAVE BEEN CUSING ALL DAY" not the way to be on EASTER SUNDAY!
