Jeff and I went out of Old Saybrook and fished around Great Island and a few spots north of the launch. No one was fishing today - everyone is doing the Easter thing. Luckily my dinner is later in the afternoon . We didn't have great action, but managed to catch 3 stripers - a 20 incher, a 27 incher and a 38 incher. We decided the 38 incher was super fat, and was probably ready to spawn (yes they do spawn in the CTR) so we let her go. An awesome day on the water.
Here are is a photo, enjoy!
For some reason, I can't post photos yet. Will post soon. |

Not great action??? that sounds like a decent day to me at this time of year! I should have went striper fishing today instead of just bass fishing as I bombed with that! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

We've been fishing at the Housy so 40 fish days are sometimes common, so a 3 fish day is a bit slow in comparison. All fish were all caught on 9 inch sluggos.
here is the big girl...

Great looking fish. What fun would it be if you didn't have to look for them.

Do you cast or just troll the Sluggos? If you troll them, how fast do you go? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

The sluggo is mainly a casting lure...its
all about the twitch, pause, twitch, pause, etc. something you could not do trolling. |

Thanks, Seahunt_al. I'm glad to know that you cast them, because I fish from a kayak. I bought some pre-rigged nine inch white Sluggos like the ones you used last year, but never even opened the package. I really had no idea what to do with them, but I'll give it a try, now. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
