Went to the private lake Tuesday afternoon and fished it from about 1:15pm til 5:30pm.

2 lures I stuck with were the 4cm silver shad Jointed Shad Rap and 6cm custom paint X-Rap Shad Shallow.

At my first stop, the X-Rap Shad Shallow had 1 perch follow and the Jointed Shad Rap caught me 2 bass and 1 perch.

I then moved over to a spot I was having luck at last time.

I catch another 2 bass and 1 perch. Then on another cast, I get a nice hit. It felt like I was reeling in a decent perch that kept on getting grabbed by a 6 pound bass. I then land a nice bullgill! Weigh it and it beats my old PB by 1 ounce!

New PB 9.5" 14 ounce bluegill!

After that catch, had a few other perch taps but nothing else.

That's awesome! Laughing I've never actually weighed a bluegill or any other kind of sunny (and, yeah, I know that black bass are really a kind of sunfish Rolling Eyes , but you know what I mean), but if I ever catch a 10+ incher, I will. Very Happy

Awesome fish! A couple buddies and I like to hit up Mansfield in the dead of summer to land double digit Oz. sunnies... They fight like bass on a microspin!

I don't think I have ever caught one on a lure though....

PS. I ALWAYS weight my sunnies! Very Happy I like to keep both extremes of my scale broken in!

That's cool Mike. I'd love to get one of the smaller fish state records myself. My friend (hookset7073) got a 14-15 oz rock bass out of hogsback res. 2 years ago which was cool
