I've started to wonder if the small stretch of freshwater along the Pequonnock River in Bridgeport below Bunnells Pond is fishable all year.

The only way it gets fish is from wash offs from Bunnells Pond.

One area is a freshwater tidal area. Then there's a tiny dam at a gradual angle before coming to the Bunnells Pond dam.

I have caught trout in both areas mentioned which were washed down from Bunnells Pond because they don't stock below Bunnells.

Could there be a possibility that this small stretch is fishable year round?

If it's a tidal river/area there is no closed season on it

So then the small tidal area I can be fishing now.

What do you think about the small area along the Wonderland of Ice? That isn't tidal and is between a dam at the tidal area and the dam at Bunnells Pond. Wash offs from Bunnells Pond is what you catch there.
