I hit the private lake Sunday from 2:45pm til 6:30pm.
I started off with a 4cm bleeding pearl Jointed Shad Rap. Had plenty of hits and landed a chubby 8" bluegill and 1 pound largemouth. The line snapped while I was fighting a big bass. Should have set the drag earlier. Also lost a total of 6 largemouths and another fish that I thought was a perch.
Switched over to a 4cm silver shad Jointed Shad Rap. Lost 2 bass with it and had a few hits.
Also tried throwing a 5cm helsinki shad Clackin Crank 3 but had no luck.
Next lure was a 6cm custom painted X-Rap Shad Shallow. Landed a 1 1/2 pound bass with it and lost 2 on the jump.
Last lure was a baby bass Rebel Pop-R. Played it the way I was at the small pond and caught a 1 1/4 pounder along a stone wall.
While I was casting it out towards deeper waters, I had a huge explosion and the fight was on! I set the drag this time and the bass took 3 runs on me.
Finally landed a 21" solid 6 pound pig!
For the next 30 to 45 minutes I had no more swirls or explosions so I packed up. |
