early on in the season, the stripers will head all the way up to the dam, surprising that such big fish can travel through that rough water, but they do. fast moving topwater or shad body lures, but be careful. lot of snags to be had there, and there's certain areas where you're not supposed to be. so i would look into it. as the season progresses, they can get HEAVY down in the harbor. especially if the bunker get pushed into there. there's been times where everyone on the dock was hittin em. snag n drop bunker if you can, or at least get one to chunk. dont think anyone will disagree with me, fresh is way better than frozen. keep your eye on the reports, talk to people, etc. you'll get the scoop on places to go and what to do.

I'm not sure how productive it is, but I was told that Eastern Point Beach, near Avery Point, is a decent spot.

LANCFISHMAN I can't help with the Thames shore access as I've only fished it from a boat but here is a link to shore access information and maps. Hope it helps. http://www.lisrc.uconn.edu/coastalaccess/
