Caught 2 trout at the hockanum near exit 60 in manchester. I think they were both rainbows. One about 8 inches the second about12-13 inches. Both caught on inline spinners, "field and stream" brand. One chrome spoon the other black with yellow spots. between 4:30 and 5:30 this evening. My first fish of 2012!

Dont wanna be a dick,. but trout season is closed, as are the waters that contain them... for your own good... give the rivers and ponds that have trout in em a break til 3rd Sat in Apr...

on the flip side... I saw a stocking truck this past weekend... and the fact you are catching dink trout... the State is dumping "Fingerlings" for trout,,, not much to look forward too in the trout department...

Yeah, there are a few catch and release only areas that are ok to fish, but the ones stocked with keepers are not supposed to be fished right now.

The Hocknum River is an open TMA (open to year round fishing and is currently catch and release) and open to fishing right now. The TMA starts in Vernon above golf land and runs down under Rt 44 into east Hartford and ends as it crosses under Rt 84 again - West of Exit 60. Make sure to read the Regs and obey the all the posted TMA signs.

Congrats on the fish!

Congrats on the trout. I guess not all of our members are familiar with TMAs!

i fish the hock ALL the time. there's a lot of good holes. from the nissan dealer by adams down to the apartments. couple of BIG holes. do yourself a favor, and a) pick up some quality fluoro like seaguar for leader, and b) grab some berkley trout worms. or wacky worms. whatever you wanna call em. either drop shot with a 3-way or split shot 3ft above. can't give ya all the secrets but thats a start.

i've fished the area on the corner of hiliard and new state road. always kind of shallow there, lost a couple of lures in that area. I was behind the Uhaul on the other side of Manchester last summer... lots of bugs in that area. My wife and I walk the trail that goes behind E.Catholic and cheney tech, so I bring my pole and when we get to the road I fish there along the bank.
