Today I snuck onto this golf course pond that I fish when I want to catch a lot of fish. That was the case today. I got out of baseball late, but I still wanted to fish a bit so I went to this pond and fished from 6 to 7:30 and caught 15 largemouths. Most were small, but there were a few decent ones landed. 2 bass that had to be over 3 pounds got away. The first one I actually had right next the shore and as I reached down to grab it, it shook off. The other took me right over to a stump and got me all tangled. I started with a mini booyah green and orange spinnerbait which got me most of my fish. I get bored of lures after awhile so I switched to this yamamoto purple senko worm with a minnow tail texas rigged. I got a few with that but I switched then again to a crankbait which got nothing but the big one that I lost by the shore. Then i tried a big spinner bait and got a number of hits but didnt land any. Then i tried a twin tailed white grub texas rigged and caught a few fish. Next i out the purple yamamoto back on and started getting hits almost each cast. I lost something of good size with that and it ripped off my plastic too so I rigged on a different plastic texas rigged. I put on a smoke twin flare tail grub and began fishing where i lost the blue plastic. I then proceeded to get slammed time and time again until i got the second big bass which took me to a partially submerged stump where i got tangled...It sucked i saw the bass right there nearly 8 feet from me. The fish finaly got off and i had to break my line. Then i decided to pack it in. All my fish were caught in very shallow water. Here are a few pics i took of some of my better bass that i landed.
I did have another picture but i guess i didnt put it on here...it was about the same size as the bigger of the two.[/img] _________________ You know it was a good day when your thumb is all scratched up. |

Thanks for sharing but why do you think your losing fish? are you using at least 10lb test on a medium to heavy rod? is your drag set to loose? also when you get a fish on don't be afraid to give an extra hook set or two, Catch'em up |

I lose fish because I get to excited...I tend to pull to hard...ask my grandfather he always would laugh at me when I caught fish because id be shaking with adrenaline...I will think about that extra hook set though I can't tell how many times fish come off next to the boat/dock/shore I notice this especially when fishing in fl[/b] _________________ You know it was a good day when your thumb is all scratched up. |
