I hit Long Meadow Pond today in the rain and the bite was on pretty decent. I got a nice 3.5 lg mouth and 2 nice Pickerel and missed a bunch more. I was using a top water popper and then switched to some weedless creatures. Already to weedy in there for much else although I did manage to run a buzzbait through there for 15 minutes but nothing on that. The first cast the Pickerel in the pic below came right out of the water and just slammed that popper. It was actually pretty close to me and caught me off guard and scared the crap out of me! LOL I only took 2 pics and by then I didnt want to touch my spanking new phone anymore.

Not much of a choice here. Its not very deep as you can see some lily pads even in the middle. May have to launch the Yak in here but am afraid a Pickerel may eat my yak! That freakin thing meant business! Had a heck of a time getting that popper out, he had every treble stuck in him! Didnt really know where to start trying to get it out. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

There is a ton of open water still on Long Meadow. Drop the yak in and give it a cruise; I promise you its worth it. |

Yeah.....it was beyond ridiculous out there yesterday........and apparently I was thinking of an entirely different body of water. Didn't realize there was more then 1 Long Meadow pond in CT, but I was on the one in Bethlehem. Got one dink in on a spinner and called it a day after 45 whole minutes on the high seas, haha. |

Yeah BD, there is 2, one in Bethlehem and one in Middlebury. They both look like good bass spots though. |

Went there for an hour today and seems the cold snap has shut it down a bit or I just had no luck or just damn good luck the other day as they were jumping all over the place the other day and nadda today. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

With this cold snap, strong NW winds, dry air, and Monday's overnight low has shut the action off. Hopefully later this week after this next batch of rain things will turn back on. NWS calling for sunny days with temps in the upper 50s, rising dew point, rising humidity, and SW winds. |
