Arrived @ 10:30 AM and was on the water until 1:15 PM. My goal when I launched on the river was to catch one smallmouth bass today but when I saw what I was up against (murky water and too much wind for finesse in a yak) I decided that pitching in the junk was the real deal today so probably more LMB chances than SMB. I had a brush hog on my Baitcaster and tied a tube on my spinning setup.. I decided early on that I would paddle pretty far down the bank against the wind and then let the wind take me back the other way while I flipped the trees and lay downs and brush piles. Within 3 pitches it was fish on and the pattern was consistent for the two and a half hours I was there. I ended up throwing only two baits green/red brush hog and green brush hog once the green/red brush hog was too shredded to fish. I ended up with 10 bass; 3 were 3+, 5 were 2+, 2 were 1+. I also lost a few fish. There were few casts where I didn't get action today. What an awesome day!
Here's a few pics. I took some video w my hatcam too but my mem card ran out on me when I thought I had recorded an hour + of fishing I only recorded 25 minutes. Kind of a bummer considering I didn't get a pic of my biggest fish. I measured and weighed it then let it go before I crashed into a tree. Thought it was on video but apparently mem card was full already.

That is an excellent trip.
Too bad about the mem card, always seems to happen at the worst times. |

I love the "I'm trying to take a photo and control my kayak at the same time without dumping" look on your face. I've made the same face many times.
I need to get the Brush Hogs I owe you to you, soon. Let me know when you plan to get out, again. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
