Tuesday I hit one of my local small ponds starting around 11:45am.

First cast out with a 6cm Husky Jerk and I get a dinky bass. Stayed with the Husky Jerk for a while and caught 1 more bass.

Switched over to a small 2" soft plastic worm rigged with 2 trout hooks. Did a slow walk the dog just beneath the surface and had plenty of bluegills and bass coming to grab it. After landing 2, I decided to try a steady retrieve on the surface by just skipping it. Bass were exploding on it!

After catching a total of 5 bass up to just over a pound with that small worm, I lost it on a tree.

Switched over to a bigger 6" black Texas rigged worm. Bass were going crazy for that too but couldn't get them to grab the hook.

But once I cast right along the edge of bushes in shallow cover, I get a huge explosion and the fight is on!

I was able to drive it out of all the bushes and landed a 6.25 pound pig!

Once I let it go, I was hungry so I headed back for a bite to eat.

The area I caught it in was active with splashes and swirls. Plenty of bluegills for these bass to feed on.

Plenty of marshy bushes along the shore that grow in the water where bass like to hang out.
