Hit my usual local pond Wednesday starting around 12:30pm.
Mikeyinstfd from the site was already there and caught a nice 2 1/2 pound bass and was still into a few before he had to leave just before 3pm. He was using a Shakeyhead Worm.
The Husky Jerk that was working for me last time wasn't getting much attention this time. I saw even more bluegills stacked up in the shallows so I decided to play with them.
The lure they were going crazy for was one of those 2" soft plastic trout worms that's already rigged with 2 hooks. I'd cast it out there with no weight and just carefully reel it in while lightly twitching it. Bluegills were shooting out for it and chasing it every single cast. Also landed a small bass with the worm.
After catching plenty of gills ranging from 7" to 8" bulls, I hit a certain spot where I was seeing a few bass. The Husky Jerk produced 1 and had another hit an Original Floater on the surface.
Plenty more bluegills and 1 more bass in other spots I made it to with the little time I had left before leaving at 6:15pm.
Total was close to 20 bluegills and 4 bass. Biggest bluegill was 9" 10 ounces and brought 8 home. |
