Hit that same pond again today for about 4 hours before heading home for work.

Before throwing the Jointed Shad Rap out there, I decided to play around with a few other lures that I didn't have with me last time.

First lure I threw was a 5cm helsinki shad Rapala Clackin Crank 3. Hit a perch with it and many other perch hits. Then, another one!

Landed it and it went 24" 5 1/2 pounds! It took the lure deep and had to get it into the water pretty soon cause its left gill was bleeding from how deep it took the lure. No pic.

After no more luck but some hits with the Clackin Crank, I switched over to a 7cm shad Rapala Shallow Shad Rap. Nothing with that so I went with a regal shad Rapala Crankin Rap 3. Had hits but no fish on.

Next lure was a custom painted 6cm Rapala X-Rap Shad Shallow. Caught a perch with it and had plenty of hits.

Last lure was a 4cm bleeding pearl Jointed Shad Rap. Plenty of hits but no fish on.

Hit the road around 1:30pm.

Did miss out on another pig. While I was reeling a 9" perch in with the X-Rap Shad Shallow, I see swirls behind it. Get it closer to shore and see a pig! Let the bass grab it, waited for a few seconds, and then tried to set the hook. It had the fish and lure in its mouth but twice I couldn't set the hook on it so it gave up on the perch.

After all the lures I've played with, I've noticed these fish are in the 2 - 6 foot target zone and are looking for something with noise instead of a solid hard bait.

Wow, you found a great spot to fish. Remember, the fish rule of catching big fish is fishing where big fish are. Nice job! And, especially, thanks for the tips on what's working for you.

Here's a pic I took of how deep the pig inhaled the Clackin Crank

Hey, Michael, do you know what the water temperature is where you're fishing? And is the water clear?

The water is slightly to moderately stained.

Don't know the water temp, but can tell from the body of the fish that it's slightly still cold but not too much.
