Sunday I hit the areas at Twin Brooks Park that have been producing for me.
Every lure I threw never saw any attention.
I then started throwing nightcrawlers on the bottom at one pond. Had a hard hit pretty soon but didn't get the fish.
As evening got closer, suckers became active.
Caught a 12" 1 pound and chubby 14" 1 3/4 pound white sucker, including a chubby 8" 3/4 pound yellow perch.
Every time I'd cast the nightcrawler and remainders out in the same spot and keep the line tight, pretty soon I could tell those vacuum fish were doing a lot of work. Line would twitch once or twice before slack coming in and then 1 hard hit.
I enjoy targeting white suckers and like how they fight. Fun fish on a light action setup. |

Michael, My kids and I have caught a few suckers in the Naugy that we thought we were snagged on the bottom until we really started tugging and low and behold something started tugging back and good! I caught a few in the 22" - 25" range as did my daughter but my 7 year old son handed me the rd to unsnag and I handed it back after a few seconds and said reel it in. He did and when he did the smile went from ear top ear as it was a 29" behemoth! It was just a cheap Walmart combo set up and I was surprised it held up!

| Biggest sucker I've ever caught Wade was May 2010 a fat 20" just under 4 pounds. Caught while trout fishing with worms at the confluence of the Pequonnock River and Bunnells Pond at Beardsley Park. |

A 20" er will sure put up a great fight. To bad most of the time you never know its on there until you go to reel it in and replace the bait or recast only to say hey, what the heck is going on here!
