Holy Molly!

Here we go again! Shocked
For many people this is going to be a serious burden!

With gas prices climbing so rapidly and predicted to go at or over $4.00 per gal. soon -> I suspect that many fishermen will be staying and fishing closer to home.

Traveling just to fish will cost more $$$$$
Towing your boat will require more gas thus more $$$$$
Since boat motors use more gas then land vehicles per distance, more $$$$$
Then there are all the other fees, licenses - launching - cost of bait - gear - etc., more $$$$$

All I can say is -> be ready to pay Rolling Eyes
And that's only so we can enjoy fishing never mind the daily need for gas!
When the cost of fuel goes up -> Everything costs more Exclamation

Crazy! Shocked -> I'm only 63 but still remember as a kid, gas being only .27 9/10 cents a gal.
And when in my 20's had a Plymouth Road Runner -> Didn't cost much to run that baby @ .33 9/10 cents per gal! Very Happy

Same thing happened last year it sucks!!! In 2008 when I was 18 in December I paid $1.61 for a gallon of gas maybe with the new pipeline coming in from Canada and Montana it could happen again Laughing

I promise you gas will NOT ever be $1.61 again.

Yeah this is really going to put a damper on boating for sure. It's not going to be cheap again until they innovate an alternative to the combustion engine. Maybe well be flying soon enough Laughing

They are saying it will hit $5 by summer but they said that last year also and I think luckily it only made it a little over $4, stayed there for a little and then dropped back. Hopefully it will just be that again!!!

Be careful what you wish for, PHS. "Alternative energy" is NOT always a good thing. Wink The government used to subsidize ethanol production from corn and continues to subsidize its production from cellulose. That's why it's in our gasoline now. I wonder whether anyone has calculated the cost of the damage done to our fuel systems and engines by ethanol. Not good.
