Hi f,

Hmmmmmm? Might be just a tad early for pre-spawn stripers at the mouth.
Don't think they're here from down south yet!
Need for the spring herring to show up first!
Plus the lack of snow and run-off which triggers the runs will possibly affect them.

I fished the river in Shelton for a few hours with not a bite. Threw out plugs, rubbers, and then when my back started hurting threw some squid, mackeral, and herring out. Man I cant wait!

Went out Wednesday morning for high tide. No luck. You have any information on whose carrying sand worms or eels. I heard herring are up in the Thames.

I was in Hamburg Cove for the morning low tide and the afternoon high tide, yesterday. I didn't see or hear of any being caught.

Nothing doing at the mouth or lower river yet,....CT Outfitters has reports of some being caught in Wethersfield Cove and also up by Hartford though!

CTO also has worms now.

Hey, fishinschmoe! I caught three schoolies in the outer cove of Hamburg Cove, yesterday, and spoke with another fisherman who caught five, including a 22 incher. We were both fishing primarily for white perch and the schoolies kept hitting our little jigs. Here's the 19 incher that I caught with a four inch white grub from which I pinched off the front inch and put on a chartreuse Blakemore Road Runner jighead:

I saw only one pulled up by a fisherman on a bass boat on Saturday in Hamburg Cove. It was so small that he did a double-take before realizing it wasn't a white perch.

We've been getting schoolies in the Hartford area, but those are holdover fish, not running fish! Cool

thanks gents... Ive heard they are showing up...

Keeney cove MAY get a straggler... or a small schoolie. I doubt the big stripers run in there, too slow, too shallow, and too warm...

discovered I need a new battery...but that is only a day delay. hope to see ya on the water this weekend!
