I usually run 10-12lb flouro or if I am fishing in the weeds or lillys I will used 15-20lb braid. It all depends on what your using, where your fishing, etc. There is no one answer to this question.

Any of you tie Flouro to braid for leaders or do the bass not give much a crap about braided line much. I use flouro for all my other fishing as in trout and salt only because Ive had problems with braided line before but Im willing to try it again.

I've caught big fish on all different line tests. Actually my biggest largemouth bass and biggest trout were caught on 8lb and 4lb test line. I only use braid for big top water wake baits and mostly at night just because night time fish can straighten out hooks like nothing Crying or Very sad

. For cranks I used 8lb test, jigs and spinnerbaits 12lb test, swimbaits and pitchin 17lb test, flippin and big swimbaits 20lb. The only line I use and will ever use for the rest of the time it's on the market is Trilene XL Smooth Casting best line ever made. Also it depends on the reel's drag as well. If you have a crap drag then yes a fish can snap the line easily, but if you have a smooth drag and the right setting you can fight anything you have on the line but it all comes down to how well you can tie a knot.

Here's a 7 pound 4 ounce largemouth on 8lb test line took the boat for a ride as I was trying to reel it in Shocked

A 25 inch rainbow trout on 4lb test that almost snapped my rod at the handle after some long runs in the Farmington

Those are some sweet fish!!!!! I pretty much use 4 lb Flouro for all my trout fishing and 20 lb for my salt water. Ive never done any of that flippin and stuff though so thats the stuff I need to know.

I used 10lb text in the river and caught a 9lb striper =)

If your drag isnt locked then high test isnt a must

You guys crack me up with this line crap,, let me tell you something,,,,,, you should use the lightest line you could get away with,, you dont think fish can see line,,, good dont catch them and let me,,lol,,go to a crystal clear lake and throw your braids,, good luck,,, Rolling Eyes

That was 1 of the problems I found. When I started fishing again this year I started using that Fused Crystal that was like white and this crap looked like landscapers line on the water. I had filled 2 reels and stripped them all after 1 day fishing and filled them with Flouro. That being said I was fishing for trout and not bass. This year I want to do some bass fishing and was wondering if they arent as finicky. I know a lot of fishing shows have them using braids,

Must say I tied on some Power Pro 15 today and liked it a lot! Way better then the Fireline Original I tried last year! I was yanking them lures right through the weeds! May have to set up a Salt pole with like 40 and see how I like it.

next issue! How many of you braided line users tie mono or flouro as a leader? If so doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose when fishing weedy areas or in the stumps and stuff. Are bass finicky enough to need to tie other line. I have PowerPro 15 lb on now and have seen many shows where they tell you to use a dbl uni knot to tie on the other line. I know casting and memory are good issues to use braided so Im fine with that and did love the way it casted but am I possibly going to suffer from less fish using braid?

a lot of people use braid for freshwater
I've seen guys use braid with swimbaits, go figure
