My friend and i hit the mill up today for some trout, we fished by the bridge next to the campus. we had some short bitting fish to start under the bridge while throwing some small blue fox's. picked up out first small 6 inch brown a little downstream of the bridge. we then proceded to walk up stream to a deep slow moving pool, foolishly my freind, jeff started to jig his chart. rooster tail off a sharp ledge. while jigging a foot under the surface of the water, a 18 to 20 trout appeard, we both saw the fish and nearly craped our selves it quickly dissapered, 20 mins later jeff caught a 10 inch brown and we both had our river fish of the year. as this was all happening there was a cadis hatch happening and the fish were actually rising! i think thats a first, febuary 11 and the trout were boiling! as we were leaving we saw the beast take two flies!! man did we wanna stick around but our fingers wldnt alow...

Yup! As long as there is open running stream or river water you will get hatches!

Good for -. Going back for that big fellow?

Nice job!

With this mild wet winter, I've been wondering about the insects. Trees and flowers are already getting ready to bloom with pollen flying around.

have you been fishing in this area lately besides this weekend because I think I may try fishing this river this weekend. what kind of blue foxes were you using? I'm not going to be fly fishing though but I will use the blue foxes. I did look up the silver shiner one. In the review it ways it is a good one. Is that the one you used. I am new to trout fishing.

Thanks, is it restricted to fly fishing only this time of year? If not, lures I plan to use are blue fox, rooster tail, and panther martins, do those usually work? Thanks!
