Pretty much open water everywhere and with this warm week coming up I think Ice will be a thing of the past. Yay for me but sad for some of you guys. Do you guys prefer ice fishing over open water?

We're open water people for sure, we'd keep our boat in the water year round if possible.

As much as I enjoy ice fishing, I'd much rather fish open water. However, I hate these in between days, when there's too much skim ice to take a boat out, but not enough ice to ice fish safely.

I'll get to fish Lake Okeechobee in Florida for a couple of days in a week and a half. I'm gonna throw a frog! Very Happy

Hey Peco!
Where on Lake O are you going to be fishing out of ? I used to fish club tournaments there, mostly out of Clewiston. Roland Martin has a marina there. Now is a good time to go because the fish are active and the temps are good. Just pray for no cold fronts. Boy, am I jealous! I had some memorable times there.

We used alot of Senkos (Texas & wacky), Horny toads, Gambler flappin' shads, worms, rattle traps, and flippin'. June bug, watermelon, pumpkin, black/blue are some awesome colors for soft plastics.
Good luck and take lots of pictures.

P.S. Don't let the gators hit your bait !!

We'll head out of Clewiston, too. I plan to spend one day fishing with my daughter and father-in-law, so I'll do whatever they want to do, but I plan to hit the pads on the other day, throwing a frog and flipping. And, yes, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for perfect weather. Very Happy
