The trout in Black Pond are really good at stealing shiners from traps. You should put two small treble hooks in each shiner; one at the tail and one either in front of the dorsal or in the mouth.
There's no way that I'd go out on 2-1/2 to three inches of ice. I'm glad that you guys all apparently got away with it. Black Pond is deep; it's 15 feet deep only 10 feet off of the east shore.
Be careful out there. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi!
What????
2.5 to 3 inches of ice
Only 2 words come to mind -> "Darwin Award"
If that's all the ice there is -> Back Off and Get Off :!
Why? Why/ Why? Are you risking your life just to catch a stupid fish:
Rule of thumb on Ice Safety -> is there should be 3 inches or better before venturinmg out on to any ice and spud your way out every few feet to check thickness + Have all your Safety Gear with you!

Heck, I get creeped out when there's only five inches of ice beneath me. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

These guys are right... that's not enough ice and that pond is deceptively deep. Please be more careful than that!
1. Drowning under the ice or otherwise dying of hypothermia is definitely a bad way to go
2. A fish (from Black Pond at that) is not worth your life
