Lot of rain yesterday, but my buddy and I always take his son out on thanksgiving for a last ditch fishing trip for the year. Water was up 3 feet or so (only 2 miles below Thomaston Dam) but I missed 3 fish on a bass hook, so I switched over to a trout hook and was able to land this 20" rainbow before all was said and done.

Thanks! It was the only time I went out for trout this year, but if that's gotta be the one I bring in, i'm happy! |

Oh, I fished plenty, just not for trout. It's kind of my last resort fish when it's to cold for bass. |

I know its getting late in the year however ice hasn't form...is it too late to hit the rivers/lakes? Is there anything biting?
I live in Watertown and am pretty much self taught so any insight anyone can lend for this area would be helpful. Haven't been out much since July and if I can get some time in I'll take it when I can get it.
Thanks! |

Trout can be picked up easiest this time of year when there's no ice. Everything else can be caught, you just need to go slow and be patient! |

CTSig, I agree, they can all be caught, you just have to go slow (or deadstick a bait pole). Like the old winter fishing adage says 'go as slow as you can possibly stand, then slow down'.
While first light seems to produce all times of year, dusk can be the key on warm winter days, as it gives the water the most time to heat up. Rocky shallows hold warmth pretty well too. Let us know what you catch! |
