Hey it's a long time away from my trip but already itching thinking about going, does anyone know what type of fly to use to catch trout in mid may in Cape Cod, Mass? Every year me and my buddy go up fishing for smallmouth and see a ton of big trout that are hitting flies in the pond we fish and want to know how to catch them and what to use. We have tried spinners and spoons and even night crawlers, but keep forgetting our fly rods and want to know if anyone has any insight on what to use. |

Hi,
Try calling those bait and tackle shops that cater to fly fishermen on the Cape.
Call before you go so they can give you the best flies and sizes to use.
Fly hatches can be quite different from region to region.
What flies are working on the farmington river here in Ct. doesn't mean the same will work as well on the Cape.
Trout can be very particular on what flies they're keying in on at different times of the year.
