There was snow on the ground and in the trees at Winchester Center, today:
The air temperature went from 35 degrees at 10:30 am to 45 degrees at 1:45 pm. The surface water temperature in Winchester Lake ranged from 45 to almost 48 degrees. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi,
You guys kill me!
For the past 2 years we haven't had any normal weather or weather patterns.
Mother Nature and GOD are going to do what ever they want
If you plan to complain -> Tell it to Al Gore and Global Warming! LOL
I had already winterized my home, vehicles, and filled the heating oil tanks (534 gal.) before the begining of Oct. (Got oil for $3.159 per gal.)
Guess I'm just so use to dealing with "Murphy's Law" the past 35 years that I prepare well in advance!
Looking forward to doing some ice fishing, BUT that's still some time away.
Temps. are going back up next week into the 50's so this storm will be a quick memory!
The Wx men have this storm all hyped up beyond belief
Have to justify their pay check some how by getting people all jittery!
The ground is still relatively warm here in Ct. -> So the 1st few inches we get will melt quickly and then we'll get mostly slush which will melt fast and disapear the next day!
I've gotten 2 upper wind reports from my friend at the National Wx Center and most of the real heavy Wx will be to the west side of the appalachians,
Still -> It's better to be prepared then not!
REMEMBER -> Buy non-perishable foods NOT fresh so that if you loose power it won't spoil like so many people found out during Hurricane Irene.

Good point. It sucks because my entire back yard floods when it rains or snows.
I did however plan for the worst already anyways and my boat is winterized now
During the hurricane I was one of the few who did not lose power luckily. If I do I am totally screwed because of my sump pump...
I have a pretty big feeling that this winter is going to be rough! _________________ Steve |

Here's the National Weather Service's Winter forecast for the Northeast:
Quote: | Northeast and mid-Atlantic: equal chances for precipitation and temperatures that are above, near or below normal. Winter weather for these regions is often driven not by La Niña, but by the Arctic Oscillation. If enough cold air and moisture are in place, areas north of the Ohio Valley into the Northeast could get above-average snow. |
I've seen other predictions that we'll get only slightly more than half the amount of snow we got last Winter. If they're right, it'll still be more than average, but not by much. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Then you're still talking about 55 to 60" . Bring it on and get it over. Ought to be an interesting ride home tonight at any rate! |

This cracks me up,, The hell with the weatherman, they only give you a rough idea on whats going to happen,, as for getting prepared for a storm,,, Come on,, most ghandi marts are open,, you should have plenty of food in your house already,, its not like your going to be stuck as if we had a nuclear attack,, I just went to price chopper to get some half and half,,, WHAT A JOKE! As for this winter,, it is what it is,,,, El Nino,, Santa Marie. or Pinta, or whatever,,Welcome to New England,,Next week is suppose to be in the mid 50s,,All I can say,, is be ready for a power outage,, lights and heat,, Im sure CL+P are prepared and ready to go,, otherwise dont worry about it ,Light the fireplace,, grab a good movie and watch it with your better half or the family,, |

Yeah, I found out yesterday that I'm not yet mentally prepared for ice fishing. Although I DID read the labels on the box of my new eight inch Nils hand auger. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

After 3-1/4 hours on Winchester Lake on Friday, my feet started to get numb.
We got 15 inches of accumulation on the table on our deck, out here in Avon. We haven't had electrical power since before 5:00 pm yesterday. How'd everyone else do? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
