I got one of my best friends and fishing buddies to finally try yakin with me. The fishing was okay but the day turned out pretty disastrous!
As soon as I found the bite the wind kicked up pretty hard making it really difficult to fish with the way the fish were relating to cover. So my friend and I were finding ways to park our boats near lay downs etc but he ended up flipping over
He lost his two poles but we managed to save the boat and paddle and most of the gear. He went into the cold water up to his head and with the wind not letting up it took us a while to get to the shore which had almost no standing room. We drained the boat and recovered and were paddling back across the river. The current was too strong to paddle against and it sent my boat sideways and I ended up tipping over near the shore
I went underwater except for my right arm which I used to grab hold of the bank and pull myself and my vessel up.
Thank god for life jackets!
As for the bass I hit a couple of shorts about 11"s and a just shy of 15" just shy of 2lb bass as well. All on brush hogs.

The wind today was absolutely brutal. I was out in Bantam and I couldnt stay in one spot even with my trolling motor. I just wish it could not rain, and be light wind!
Glad you guys are okay...and yes thank god for life jackets lol. At least you got to fish!

Phil, the Trophy didn't tip completely but it was enough for me to fall out of it. I was paddling against the current and the current just kept pushing me into the bank and it hit something submerged and dumped me right at the shore but unfortunately for me the water at the shore was 3-4 feet deep
The other yak I have that my friend was paddling is a Perception Sport Rhythm 10', not really a fishing vessel and he pushed his balance to the limits before he realized it he was underwater _________________ Never give up! |
