What a great catch! I would love the experience of a fish towing my yak! How did it feel?

WOW on the Carp!

Here is one of Phil holding the fish. I thought I would roll El Tourgua if I tried to lift it. The fight was ridiculous. The fish was pulling drag like crazy. Thanks for the help Phil. Sorry about the size.

Nice fish! I've caught a couple 20lbers and that one definately looks bigger. I think carp fight harder than any other fish and the fact that they get so big makes them one of my top 3 favorite species. As Kira said, too-not the easiest to catch, either.

Pretty! The fish too! Very Happy

Hey, Dan! I have no idea how to mount a fishfinder transducer to an inflatable boat. On The Other Woman (aka my Hobie Pro Angler), I use the through hull transducer and mount that came with my Humminbird 385ci Combo Kayak. I also have a Humminbird 798ci HD SI Combo, but the transducer has to be mounted external to hull. I'm still working on the best way to do that. On my first attempt at a mount, I used a round aluminum down tube that hit its natural frequency and vibrated when I would go over two miles per hour. Crying or Very sad

If you are using a trolling motor, any fishfinder/transducer can be used. Just use a big pipeclamp to mount the transducer to the bottom of the motor and use zip ties/electrical tape to hold the wire against the shaft.

If that carp was caught the CONVENTIONAL way, I would have simply said "not a bad fish" but seeing as how it was snagged on a Rapala, that's a phenomenal fish! The fight is always harder with a foul hook.

I target carp exclusively. Not all the time, but when I get a good stretch of weather and tide (depending on where i'm fishing) i'll plan a few sessions. A friend of mine recently told me him and his mates hit carp there to 27lbs. And up until a couple weeks ago, I had no idea they were in there in the first place. I think it's about time to give it a whirl.

In Europe they go after carp like we go after bass. Great catch guys!
