Holy Moly,, it was freakin chilly,, got on water at 7:30am,, broke out the newer crankbait rod,, went fishing with an old friend,, I was out just to crank,, I had nothing else but a crank rod,, and a bunch of new Koppers Live Targets,, was fishing 10ft to 15ft of water,,when I banged into a rock, usually I got hit,, I went to third bay to fish the rock garden and the channel,, they were there,, caught some nice largemouth and some good smallies,, all crankin,, I also hit a couple nice trout,,My buddy was throwing a grub and carolina rigging,, He caught some decent fish, all in all a good day,, combined we caught over 20 fish,, and we only fished for 5 hours,, trout were jumping everywhere in the am,, there were 2 yaks out there before I was there and they were still there when I left,, there was a red one and a yellow one, Of coarse I didnt see them leave first bay,, It was fairly breezy,,

Hey flip, what is your best bait this time of year for Highland? We've got all the usuals, just need some advise I guess. We have our boat in Ct, finally, got her cleaned up from the lake crap at our old place. Now we need another 12v battery, ones dead. So we'll be taking her out(hopefully) next weekend. We now live in Wolcott, so there's no big lakes in our area. So we're looking at a 45 min. ride at least to find a decent size lake. Bantam,Highland,Zoar, or the river are what I think we'll be looking at. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
John

The Senko,, is my go to Embarassed ,, no,, depends what your going for, depends on the weeds,, depends on water temp,, depends on a front,, it all depends, on depends Rolling Eyes Highlands cooling quick,, I dont sit around and wait for fish, I like to cover water,, smallies are grouping up with the bait,, if you like to sit and jiggle your line a drop shot can be fantastic,, a tube is always good,, crankins good,, I have friends killing them with shaky heads right now,,and of coarse a jig,, to name a few,, I cant say I have a favorite bait for this time,, sometimes anything works,, oh another good one is the Cabin Creek,, carolina rigging right now seems to be hot,, oh and dont forget a SAMMY Wink Humps, rock walls, points, bluff walls, roads, and of coarse the creek channels Wink

Thanks flip, pretty much the usual, anything that works, works. I'm not much of a sit in one place kind of guy, that's why a spinnerbait is my usual go to bait. Been working more with crank baits this year also.

Good luck.

Hey Hila,

I know you were looking to get out in the water this weekend. Any luck?
