Yesterday, me, my dad, my grandad and my dad's friends went on a charter boat (The Black Pearl) out of Bridgeport for Bluefish. There was about 15 of us. We mainly fished around the Penfield Reef area. But before we even left the harbor and most other people arrived, I caught this 7-8 pound blue!

Here I am with the fish and a person who worked on the boat. He had a pole out, and he got a big bite, so he set the hook and reeled in in a little. Then he gave the rod to me.

The first spot we fished on the boat, wasn't too productive. The waves were too choppy in that spot. There were only 2 or 3 small blues caught there, including one I caught. So, we moved slightly closer to Penfield Lighthouse. The action was awesome there. Blues were going crazy! I caught about a dozen 2-5 pound blues there, using mackerel and clams. I was actually getting more hookups with clams than mackerel. The action at one point was so hot, if you didn't have a fish on after two minuets off dropping down, then the fish have taken your bait or you need to move.

This is me with an 8-10 pound blue someone caught. Yes, it looks at least 15 because I held it far out from me, lol.
Besides bluefish, I saw one sea bass, one fluke and a few sea robins caught.

Awesome pics! I went out early this morning (2am - 9am) and only caught one fish and it was a blue about the same size (9 lbs 2 ounces) as did my friend but his came in like a Yellow Perch! He thought he snagged something on the bottom as there was a great bite then like nothing but weight on the line. I think that blue sucked it in while sleeping by accident. It just rolled right in like a dead stick!! LOL Mine put up a heck of a fight though.

This other person on the boat was using a mackerel head for bait. He hooked into a big fish, but it got off. I wonder what it could've been.

I use mackerel heads all the time! Striped Bass love heads as thats what they are used to getting especially when the blues are around as they chomp from tail up and typically stop at the head to fall down and thats when the bass falls into play. I catch Blues on mackerel heads all the time though.
