Keeney Cove is finally out of the flood stage so I was able to do a lunch/fishing trip over there today. It was a beautiful day again despite the wind. I fished from 12:45pm to 2:00pm casting from Point Rd. I started off throwing a spinnerbait for the first 25min or so but wasn't having any luck so I switched to the old faithful senko and picked up a decent 14" LMB.
I continued to circle the road casting 5" wacky senkos and ended up landing 2 more LMB, an 11" and a 10". I decided to give the spinnerbait another try and on my 3rd or 4th cast I finally landed my first spinnerbait bass. A measly 10"er.
I continued to throw the spinnerbait to no avail so I switched back to the senko again and landed another 14"er.
That last one I caught definitely had a run in with a pike or bowfin from the looks of those scars. The other side of the fish was worse. The bass were very actively feeding. They weren't looking for a senko sitting on the bottom. All bass that I caught on the senkos picked it up on the retrieve. They were keying on the movement today. Nothing hit on the fall either. |

Just can't get enough...even though I haven't caught anything huge. Spent another hour there today and picked up 6 more LMB. All fish came on the wacky senko. No luck with the spinnerbait. I talked to a few guys who had been throwing the spinnerbait all morning and no luck for them either. 3 were keepers (14", 12", 12") and 3 were shorts between 9" & 11". Here's some more pics.
14"
12"
12"
I need to launch my yak in there again one of these days. |

You know what they say about guys with big hands? They wear big gloves. Seriously though...they are small...14" was the biggest I picked up over there this week. One of my limitations has been I was fishing from the road not a boat or yak. Although I have caught 3 pounders from the road in the past. I would definitely like to head out there with ya sometime. I never pass up a chance to learn something new about fishing. Hopefully our schedules will work out one of these days. |

No the bass are all gone now...I caught them all. Read the report and you'll see what worked for me. |

No...they all went back. I'm just joking with you. I'm sure there's plenty of bass in there. There always are. Senkos were working the best for me but had some luck with a spinnerbait too. |
