PM trip, so we didn't hit the water until 5 (as my partner doesn't get home from work until 4ish). We hit the inlet where the weed poison had been thrown and my buddy got a bass close to 3 lbs.
Then nothing else in that cove. We headed over to Beverly's across from the state launch and got the other 5 that we got for the evening. All bass, except for my last fish (the toothy guy), that weighed in in the 2lb range. All of them came in on Terminator spinnerbaits in white and chartreuse (me being chartreuse of course). Had 2 pike come up and give me a shower at the boat while missing my bait in the process. You can see the remainder of a previous shower in the pic.
Slow night, but the fish were biting and all of them looked nice and fat! Alright for a 2 hour adventure.......

Nice fish. I wish that I could fish at dusk more often, instead of the middle of the day. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Try the figure eight next to the boat when the pike miss it. _________________ Go big or go home! |

Has the figure eight actually ever worked for you, Damian? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I don't use lures all that often, so no. I've only been in that situation once and I actually had the fish hit at the boat, but had it on for a few seconds, so it probably wasn't going to hit anything again for a while. I am going to try a 90 deg. turn after every cast from now on with a lure, after an article I read. It is not very practical to use a figure 8 every cast, but definately if you've had a hit or see a follow. I have seen video of it working, though. _________________ Go big or go home! |

I've seen videos of the figure eight working on muskies, but not pike. Muskies aren't afraid of anything. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Thanks guys....yeah, our musky guide on the Allegheny had us figure 8 every time we brought the lure in, though we never had a boatside strike. Never tried it for pike, though it may have helped because both of those fish actually hung out at the boats edge for a couple seconds before they gave me their farewell showers, haha. Bantam river next week for another try! |
