Moved to a lakeside rental the week of the hurricane. Not a large property at all. Small house and cheap rent. Although, it comes with a lakeside backyard and its own dock (hasnt been maintained but I can at least stand on it).
Due to having no power or anything and the property being a mess due to the storm, Ive had little time to do much fishing on it.
Over the last week Ive been fishing it for about an hour each night after work. It's pretty shallow near the shore (5ft for about 10 yards out). Despite the depth and the weedier conditions, it's been producing quite well. In the past week Ive caught prob about a 1LB 1/2 fish each night. Small ones are nailing the hook (prob bout 8-10", but fat). I even had prob a 2LBer nail the line 2 feet from the dock. Surprised the hell out of me once he started pullin away on me.
Ive been fishing just 7" pumpkin Zoom lizards and Strike King senkos wacky style with no weight (would get Yamamoto's, but havent been able to get out to the bait shop much due to moving). Seems like 1/10 casts get some action, even if just a tug.
Before the move, I visited Mamanasco the day the storm hit (figured with the change in pressure Id be crazy night to have a line in the water). Fished for about 5 hours just enjoying the winds with no luck. Downpour started so I threw in a line one last time for the hell of it.
To my surprise I discovered this on the end of my line...
No idea how much it weighed, but Id say over 3LBs. Any guesses?
May look like im holding it out to make it look bigger, but this guy was right in front of me during this pic. Only had an iPhone so this is the best image I could get.
So just a little report. Now that I have some decent access look forward to more updates.

It's in Ridgefield, CT.
It'd be the dream if I owned the property. Regardless, a rental is just fine, haha.
Now all I need to do is buy a kayak and Im set. If only I had money... |
