The funny thing about netting that fish was that it was a brand new net and the first fish I landed after buying it! It was handy this time because it helped me not kill the fish or stick my hand with the hook trying to grab the little guy. I actually bring mine in the kayak too. I started doing it in the ocean because of the variety of beast I may be apprehensive to reach in and grab. I just clip the end of the net lanyard to one of my bungees and let it hang out in the front of my boat. Haven't needed it yet but I like to always be prepared. _________________ Never give up! |

My 2 inch smallmouth I caught today at Rainbow on a 1/16 rooster tail. Throwing something that small, I probably deserved to catch my personal worst haha

I did not catch this on rod and reel, but while we are talking about small fish, I thought I'd throw it out there.
A tiny largemouth that choked to death trying to eat a tiny sunfish. Just goes to show how aggressive bass can be - even just after hatching. _________________ Go big or go home! |

Wow I thought for sure I would own this thread when I read the topic but looks like there is some competition here. Of course mine was caught on a dry fly slightly bigger then the fish.

No, it had already been dead for a while when I found it. _________________ Go big or go home! |

Figured I'd bring this thread out again since my catches have been so minimal this year (other than Noddie)...here's the fattest little fish I caught yesterday at Stillwater. It was 7" and weighed in at a whopping 3oz. Yes I did actually weigh it and I'm guessing by looking at that belly that it was pushing close to 4oz I'm hoping it will be a fat pig of a fish in a few years.

Here's a tiny perch my buddy caught on a phoebe. Attacking the lure ended up being suicide for this fish ...
