Thanks guys. Yeah, Champlain next season. We had done PA the last 3 trips hunting Muskies on the Allegheny. That is some tough going though, and we're looking to catch more then 1 fish in a 3 day stretch. Time for something new Cool

Do you hire a guide when you go muskie fishing? I'd love to try that.

That's true, but I'm totally ignorant when it comes to muskie fishing, so I'd appreciate the help of a professional guide. However, if you want to catch fish on Lake Champlain, I highly recommend Captain Mickey Maynard (aka Captain Mick):

Fishing with Captain Mick on Lake Champlain is as close to a guarantee as you can get.

Yes, we had a guide in PA (Red Childress of Allegheny guide service) and we already have Mickey booked for next year. Good to hear he's the guy to have! Also rented his cabin on the lake. Can't wait for that trip.

Yes welcome to the site,
I just came back from Champlain. Took my boat (Gonzo II ) A 14' aluminum rigged up with downriggers and all. But didn't get much other than a perch as big as the spoon I had down and some whitefish. Don't think I was getting deep enough.
Usually fish it in the spring for lakers and salmon.
Are you going up next spring?

Rich

Hey, madkey, on what part of Champlain were you? I might go to North Hero Island in Vermont during Labor Day weekend and appreciate your report.

No, we're headed up in September of next year to fish smallies and Pike. Spring is to iffy for me in northern NY as far as snow and the melt go. Champlain was to high to fish this year until after Memorial Day!
