went to McDonough again yesterday with a buddy. Last few trips there have been decent and this day was no differant. Ended the day with a 12lb bag on the scales for five fish limit. we were culling most of the day....just couldnt improve the weight.
lost a few good ones that would have made the bag better. Our 1st stop produced fish for both of us on our 1st casts....including the 2lb 13oz smallie. We also had a double up at one spot as soon as we got to it. we found fish in 10+ and a few tucked titie to shore. Buddy dropped a 4lb smallie that inhaled his jig in 1' of water. that fish launched 2' out of the water and threw the jig........
it was a good day, bite was consitent mostly all day. most fish caught on jigs and creature baits however i did end the day with three keepers including a 2lb 10oz larry caught on the drop shot rig. Decided to try and drop shot a tube......it paid off.
really couldnt have been a better 6 hours of fishing. perfect weather and the fish were cooperating makes for a gpood day. thanks sam. come home soon!! fished 8-2 and it was mostly sunny with some overcast in the afternoon. |

you should give it a try. its been fishing really good this year for us anyways. the bass here are very healthy and youd be suprised at the fight of even the two pounders. strong fish up there. unfortunatly we got to watch a guy and his wife? load a 5 gallon bucket with some very nice bass. I watched him real in two 2lb+ smallies on one rod. must have been using a 2 hook rig. was definetly live bait fishing. ohwell. plenty of bass in there! |

Hi guys!
FYI:
At McDonough, you have to pay a parking fee of ($6.00)
Don't know if the launching fee ($6.00) applies to kayaks or canoes.
Best to call ahead.

$5 for non-powered boats. Couldn't find anything on weekday/weekend rates so I'm assuming it's daily rates. |

rates are the same for weekends. they open at 8:00am on the weekends and 10:00 during the week i believe. if you dont mind dishing out $12..........take the ride i dont think you will be disapointed. i will most likely be back up there this weekend as they close labor day weekend i believe for the year. if you see a white/teal Triton bass boat say helllo. it might be me. |

Wow, they close on Labor Day, that's not far away at all. Probably won't get a chance to hit there before then. Guess it'll be a spring spot for next year. |

The boat launch closes on Labor Day. You can only fish from shore until November from what their website says. |
