Hit Bashan again with Jay on Tuesday 6/2. We did so well last time and my Humminbird side imaging unit was in for repair so I thought lets go someplace smaller that I know well. Back to Bashan it was. We were on the water by 8:00. When we arrived the parking lot had one space left. Water temps were in the low 80's. Gentle breeze was present most of the day out of the far end. Tubers and skiers were at a minimum.

The day started slow as we fished our way out to the island. We actually got a chance to meet the people who live in the little red house out there, which was fun. We picked up a few fish off the island all in about 10 feet of water.

From there we moved into the cove off to the left and took a shot at the boats docked there but nothing. After that we went back into the cove off the nice flat to the left as you head to the dam. It was about 11:00 at that point and we had only 7 fish. We made our trek back and forth following the outer weedline again in about 10 FOW and picked up a few more. But fishing stayed slow until about 12:30.

We fished the opposite side of the lake in up to the point and picked up a few again on the outer weedline. We crossed over to the island and fished in from there catching our last 9 fish on the way with three coming from the no wake buoy to the last dock and in about 6-8 FOW.In fact, one of the owners who saw the last flurry got in his kayak and came to the launch to find out what we were throwing. I wrote it all done for him so hopefully he can duplicate it. He's primarily a trout guy who hasn't had much success catching bass.

All in all what started like a slow day compared to the last trip finished strong over the last 2 hours. We wound up with 24 bass and 1 pickerel. Not as many keepers as last trip but still two limits.

All of them on a drop shot with zoom finesse worms in black grape.

Nice Pappy. I know that you've told me before, but what kind of hook do you use? Also, the last time that I threw a dropshot, I used a little 1/4 ounce weight and it kept getting hit by yellow perch. Does that happen to you?

I use the standout hooks which you can get from BassPro Shops

I also use the slender 1/4 oz drop shot weight as opposed to the round one. They say round is better for rock, slender better for weeds. I use slender for both so I don't have to buy two different types. I have had fish hit the sinker, mostly pickerel. Hardly catch perch on it. I even a clam took the sinker on Bashan in my first tournament this year.
