Has anyone else noticed the lack of sea robins this year? Or is that just where I am fishing? Usually this time of year they would be crazy, but not really this year. I only caught one and saw only a few others caught, but this was all on the same day. It's mainly a good thing, lol, but strange. |

Caught 4 behind the jetty at the mouth of the housatonic on 23July. So far they are the only thing I've caught in the sound this year. Besides two spider crabs but they don't count as fish. I'll post a pic when I get home. |

Hi!
As a kid.
In January (Mid Jan. thaw), my dad and uncles would go to Brown's Bank to fish for cod.
We'd sometimes get into some schools of big Robin Fish.
My uncle Ed would cut off the heads and keep the tails.
He'd skin the tails, fillet, and fry them up
Like any other bottom fish -> super sweet white meat.
Also makes the best fish chowder you ever ate.
Absolutly Delicious
Try them -> you'll like them !
Besides you can keep all you can catch.

I don't mind them at all. I don't fish for food or trophy. I don't need any bragging rights or anything. I'm happy to catch anything willing to bite. |

They are all over Penfield. I've caught three this weekend alone. |
