Hi !
Never seem to hear how anyone is doing at Stillwater Pond in Torrington.
Only paddle and electric motors allowed.
Has some deep water, lots of backwater coves with weeds, and tree blowdowns to fish.
Anyone having any luck there

I fished there 2 months ago and caught 7 cookie cutter LMB, all on jigs. Prior to that I spent 6 hours in pure darkness, with no signs of life other than bats & howling coyotes. Interesting place. _________________ Kira

I've never been there, but last week a 7lb 4oz largemouth bass was caught there. _________________ Catch and release only.

Hi Steven!
Thanks for your post.
Yeah! Stillwater is a pretty good size body of water and I'm sure there are more lunkers like that in there as it doesn't get too much fishing pressure, because gas powered boats aren't allowed.
Oh! FYI to ALL:
Talked to 2 DEEP officers yesterday, and they informed me that they are cracking down (and issuing fines) on those that have big hp. motors (over 8 hp.) on their boats (Not used) but still attached to their boats while using a kicker gas motor (8 hp or Less).
They said that the "Prop Must be Removed" from the big hp. motor before using the boat in hp. restricted waters.
Even if you have an electric motor you plan to use only -> Prop still has to be removed.
Covering the prop with a plastic bag is not sufficient anymore !
Just thought you fishermen should know !

I've fished there once I really like the lake nice and quiet way better than Park Pond and closer. Most of the time if I go past West Hill to fish it's always Winchester which is my favorite lake in CT, but Stillwater the only time I fished it did pretty well. Great lake if you like to pitch to cover the shore drops off quickly everywhere. Never really put time into it because Winchester has so much potential but it's set up to harbor some monster largemouths. _________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o21/PickerelPete/IfeH-r.gif |
