I work in Bloomfield now and looking for any good spots to hit from shore during lunch or after work so within 15-20 minutes of Blue Hills in BloomField would be ideal. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Lookin for LMB and or SMB. of course if you want to recommend a place you are welcome to join me there as well
Best!

maybe barber pond? Keney park pond? The farther west on rt44 or rt305 the more ponds seem available. |

I think I'm going to try my luck at the CT River. Maybe load up my yak in the morning and bring it to work and hit the river after work and see if I can catch some Smallies _________________ Never give up! |

Try Barber Pond out. I've fished there in the past and there were plenty of bass. However I have fished there 4 or 5 times this year and haven't seen a fish. It is a very shallow pond and I'm thinking there may have been a fish kill there. I would like to know if you catch anything there. |

@DirtyDawg Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out one of these days and let you know.
@IceAddict - Do you know how to access the reservoir and if it is legal to fish it? _________________ Never give up! |

I went to check out Barber yesterday but after about 5 minutes it started to downpour. I lost my glasses running back to my car and couldn't find them yesterday. I came home soaked and angry. I headed back today and I found them after looking up and down the path 2 times and then I wet a line for 20 minutes before work. Saw a couple fish boiling but they looked to be quite small, probably sunnies. I got a tap on my wacky worm but it wasn't a full on take by the fish. I will probably make some more trips there see what bites. _________________ Never give up! |

There are definitely still some bluegill in there but that's all I've seen so far this year. |

Is there any access to that pond besides that pulloff on Bloomfield Ave? I didn't have a lot of time to check it out yet. I was casting from the little waterfall. maybe I'll bring my kayak and take a closer look inside. _________________ Never give up! |

That's the only access I know of. You can walk down quite a ways along the west shoreline.

You should be good to go in your yak. |

Worked Barber from shore for an hour. Threw in from 4-5 different spots fan casting best as I could and chucking into cover. A fellow angler was there as well. I threw a bunch of stuff in: senkos, grubs, long worms, Tx wacky weighted weightless frogs and not a sniff. Just some muck on my line. The other guy had nada as well. Wished him luck and left. Fishing doesn't look great here but I can't reach the tall weeds from the shore. Maybe next time I'll get the yak out there and throw some jigs in the grass mats on the other side _________________ Never give up! |

Well I still think there was a big die off in the pond but I just confirmed today that they're not all gone. Caught this little 11"er on a senko. Nothing even looked at the frog. I had another small one pick up the worm and run with it but it didn't swallow the hook.

The fish looks pretty healthy to me so I guess there's hope. Was it covered in that green film still? _________________ Never give up! |
