7/15 Clear skies, Sunny, Air temp around 90, water temp 84, clear to 8 FOW.

Well I took a Marketing person fishing Friday. Things ya gotta do to keep people happy.

He wanted to be on the water at 11:00am and off by 2:00pm. Oh boy..

He wanted to hit the docks and pads "just like on TV". Very Happy So we did. After two hrs of that and not catching anything I said "Ever drop shot before"? Drop shot, whats that?

I found a nice hump (30FOW to 9FOW) nice bait ball just hanging out. So we dropped the lines and started picking them off one by one.

No monsters, but caught about 8 fish in the last hour; all ranging between 1.5 to 2+. We used Glup shad.

Not a bad day.

Although I'm obsessed with frogging right now, I really enjoy drop shotting Gulp minnows. I need to fish some deeper water soon.

Nice way to save the trip. It can be lock and load on those humps if you hit it right. I have pulled many fish from deep structure at that lake. I loved having it in the backyard for years.

Nice job on moving to the drop shot and turning a slow day around!
I cant stand it when I bring someone out fishn and cant get them a few good bites. I would usually rather my guest catches the fish than myself if they are not frequent fisherman. So I consider it even sweeter when you show a guest to the sport how you can find the bite on a tough day the way you did.

I still am very weak with the drop shot technique. It frustrates me because I know allot of you guys can use it so effectively on days when you need it most, and if I could figure it out, the bite is there for the taking.... like a delicious burger is dangling JUST out of reach.

I guess I just have to put in allot more time trying it than I have been doing. Thats usually how get confident with my other productive techniques.

Anyway, good job again SkeeterRon!

Pond,

This is only my 2nd year dropshotting. Last year during a Tourney in Maine I had no choice but to learn how to dropshotting real fast. I quickly fell in love with it.

This year now that I finally have a better Humminbrid system, it makes my life much easier dropshotting.

Can't wait until next month when we go back to Maine to see how good I do this year with the new electronincs.

Johnny, your to funny.. It will never be like TV for me.. I don't own a Lake to stock, put auto feeders for the bass and aerate the water. Like Bill Dance.

It would be nice tho... Wink

Very nice. Drop shotting is the way to go especially on a hotter bluebird day. Ever throw a Big Texan down deep? Love that too........

Big Brush Hog brother. Like a 4/5 ot EWG with a 1/2 ounce weight. I love the Perfect Plastic series. Lock on to some big smallies in like 30 feet. It's fun and they aren't getting off!

Let me know how that works for ya and how you do overall. I haven't been to that lake in a long time, was thinking of going with a buddy one of these days.
